Storms brought pockets of heavy rainfall to the KVOE listening area between midnight and 4:30 am Thursday.
Not everybody saw significant rainfall:
*KVOE studios: Trace
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.06 inches
*Allen: 0.10 inches
Severe weather was unlikely but possible early Thursday and never materialized across the KVOE listening area.
Record heat is in the works for Thursday as temperatures climb to 92, above the current record of 87 originally set in 1954 and matched in 2002. Gusty south winds between 30-40 mph will also set up a very high fire danger for Lyon and surrounding counties.
Looking ahead to the holiday weekend, there is a marginal all-hazard severe weather risk for Friday evening. Rain is a good bet for both Saturday and Easter, with an inch or more of total accumulation possible areawide for the weekend.
KVOE and KVOE.com will have updates.
