After holding a special meeting Thursday, the Emporia Recreation Commission says it will announce its new executive director next week.
Board members will have their regular monthly meeting Monday, and the plan is to announce the new director near the end of their proceedings. Finalists are current Assistant Director of Operations and Interim Director Amanda Gutierrez; former Deerfield Park, Illinois, assistant director John Mark Woolums; and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Superintendent Fred Lowery.
Other business Monday includes conversations about a transient guest tax grant application to support tournaments held in Emporia through the Kansas State High School Activities Association, maintenance and repair updates for the Lee Beran Recreation Center’s indoor pool and fitness center window, mill levy reductions and a Community Development Block Grant opportunity for improvements at places like Whittier Park and the DeBauge Family Sports Complex.
Leadership Team updates are also planned.
The meeting is at 5:30 pm Monday at the Rec Center.
