The Emporia High girls soccer team fell to Wichita East, 5-2, on Friday night.
The first 40 minutes were competitive with a 2-2 tie. Emersyn Johnson gave the Lady Spartans a 1-0 lead. The Blue Aces responded and then a goal by Lodia Gamez made it 2-1 in the 21st minute. Wichita East scored the next four goals in the game, including three in an eight-minute span of the second half. Head coach Oscar Macias said the Blue Aces made the adjustments at halftime.
Emporia High (4-4) hosts Wichita Classical at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
