An Emporia woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder is not being charged with that crime.
Following a review by the Lyon County Attorney’s Office, 23-year-old Jocelyn Castillo has been charged with one count of aggravated battery, bodily harm with a deadly weapon. That count also has an alternat charge of domestic battery.
Castillo is also charged with single counts of marijuana possession, paraphernalia possession and criminal damage to property.
Charges follow an alleged incident April 17. Emporia Police have not given further details, and the legal complaint as filed on the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal does not indicate the weapon allegedly used in the incident.
Castillo’s first official court appearance is Monday in Lyon County District Court.

Formal charges are pending after an Emporia woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Thursday night.
Emporia Police arrested 23-year-old Jocelyn Castillo. Besides attempted first-degree murder, officers booked Castillo on suspicion of aggravated domestic battery, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and criminal damage to property.
Police officers are investigating. No additional information is currently available about this case.
