The Emporia State baseball team got off to a hot start on the way to an 18-8 victory in game one of their series at Northeastern State. The Hornets scored four in the first and followed that up with five runs in the second. ESU pounded out 17 hits led by Jovanni Toledo’s 4-for-5 day, including two runs and five RBIs as he finished a triple short of the cycle. Noah Steele and Cooper Schwindt also homered with Schwindt driving in four runs. ESU (19-19, 12-15 MIAA) wraps up the series with a true doubleheader Friday, beginning at noon.
