The USD 253 Board of Education will be convening a bit earlier than normal for its meeting later this week.
The board’s regular meeting will begin at 5:30 pm with a study session to review the district’s building needs assessment compiled by school principals with information provided by building leadership teams, site councils and others. Following the study session, the board will move into its regular meeting agenda which includes a proposal for science textbooks, a first reading of 2025-26 student handbooks, a review of capital projects, a review for a potential upgrade to the Emporia Middle School track and field and a request for carpet replacement at Emporia High School and EMS.
Two executive sessions, both for personnel matters, are also scheduled with action likely to follow.
The meeting will take place inside the Mary Herbert Education Center.
