A new convenience store is coming to northwest Emporia.
Walmart has started construction on a new convenience store and gas station in the northeast corner of its parking lot. With early preparations now underway, Walmart Global Communications spokesperson Anne Hatfield says this new building is in the early planning stages so a construction timetable is pending.
Hatfield says the convenience store will have the same prices for snacks and beverages currently found inside the store. Walmart+ members will also get discounts of up to 10 cents a gallon.
The convenience store and gas station will compete with similar facilities operated by Amoco, BP, Casey’s, Circle K, Finish Line and Short Stop. Hatfield says the new store and station in Emporia is part of a project adding fuel stations across the country this year.
