Construction has started on a new splash pad in Americus.
Project Playscape has been generating funds and public support for the project for several years. Group spokesperson Britney Hinrichs says it’s an exciting time in Americus, noting the foot traffic for the first day of construction Saturday.
The splash pad is on the south side of Americus Jones Park and will include a large bucket and several smaller spray features.
Now that construction is underway, Project Playscape continues fundraising to renovate the outdoor basketball court nearby. Hinrichs also says Project Playscape is developing plans to have community activities across north Lyon County, expanding from Americus to Allen, Admire and Reading.
