The Chase County Sheriff’s Office is working to restore a key part of its social media outreach.
Sheriff Jacob Welsh says the department’s Facebook page was reported as being an “imposter” page. The claim was apparently substantiated despite work to get Meta, Facebook’s parent company, to review the findings. Welsh says the department has reached out to Facebook and Meta to help with restoring the page.
Welsh says Facebook “is a vital link that is used by this office to provide our community with public safety alerts and transparency.”
While the Chase County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page is currently down, Welsh says the best ways to contact deputies will be by phone at 620-273-6313. In cases of emergencies, residents need to call 9-1-1.
