The first of two blood drives for May in Emporia is set for Thursday.
The Emporia High School Student Council will be holding a blood drive from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Flint Hills Mall in the space next to Bath and Body Works.
EHS Student Council Member Jax Cole says one reason students join student council is having an opportunity to give back to the community.
Community members who can’t make it to Thursday’s drive have another opportunity on May 8 as the First Church of the Nazarene will host a blood drive at the Potter Activity Gymnasium from Noon to 6 p.m. Church spokesperson Terry Weems says when she was approached about hosting a blood drive before Mother’s Day, it was a perfect idea to honor moms during this drive.
To schedule an appointment, go to redcrossblood.org and enter zip code 66801 for the drive you would like to donate at.
