A state lawmaker representing Chase and most of Greenwood counties now has a new assignment.
Michael Fagg of El Dorado has been appointed to the Water Program Task Force. Fagg was appointed jointly by Senate President Ty Masterson and Speaker of the House Dan Hawkins, along with Evergy Director of Water and Waste Programs Jared Morrison, iSi Environmental founder and Chair of the Kansas Chamber Board Karma Mason and Groundwater Management District 4 Manager Shannon Kenyon. Masterson also appointed Senator Michael Murphy, while Hawkins selected Representative Cyndi Howerton.
The new board, created earlier this year as part of Senate Substitute for House Bill 2172, will develop a long-term investment program for water with at least one dedicated revenue stream. It will also review current funding for water, as well as the state’s water planning laws. Masterson says the Task Force members “are dedicated to the stewardship of this precious resource, ensuring its abundance and sustainability through prudent policy making.” For his part, Hawkins says the work of the Task Force ” will be key to ensuring this precious resource
is available for generations to come.”
Fagg represents Senate District 14, which covers all or significant parts of Chase, Greenwood Butler, Marion and McPherson counties.
