Emporia Fire had a busy Friday night.
Crews responded to a structure fire at Soutthgate Mobile Home Park, 1601 West South Lot 105, shortly after 8:45 pm. Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage says fire developed in the mobile home’s back bedroom. The fire was put out relatively quickly and the fire damage was limited to the bedroom.
Steinlage says the mobile home was abandoned. A cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
As firefighters were handling the Southgate fire incident, rescue crews were dispatched to the 1200 block of US Highway 56, just east of Northern Heights High School, after a motorcycle and deer collided. Steinlage says the motorcycle rider did not need an ambulance trip to a hospital afterward.
