Total tax collections for April were above estimates, but below figures from a year ago.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced Thursday that total tax collections for April were $1.33 billion, which was 1.3 percent higher than estimates. The total, however, was down nearly 6 percent from the same time last year.
Individual income tax collections were $10 million, or 1.5 percent above estimates, coming in at $684.8 million, which was 7.5 percent lower than the April 2024 mark. Corporate income tax collections were $316.5 million, 0.4 percent above estimates and 6.4 percent lower than April 2024.
Combined retail sales and compensating use tax receipts exceeded estimates by 1.9 percent, coming in at $296.3 million and were $1.2 million above the April 2024 mark.
