Suffice it to say, CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness had a busy 2024.
In a year where CrossWinds moved most of its administrative services into the former Emporia State Chi Omega sorority building and absorbed Corner House into its operations, the agency announced a 17 percent increase in services, 14 percent increase in patients seen and a 12 percent increase in new staff. Development and Logistics Director Lucas Moody says there are several reasons for notable increases in traffic, starting with a change in service model to Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic.
Given those increases, CrossWinds CEO Amanda Cunningham says the agency is constantly looking at ways to help its staff.
CrossWinds had its third Stand Up to Stigma event, which featured a performance by comedian and magician Mike Bliss. He says he was drawn to comedy at age 3, but it wasn’t until middle school before he started figuring out how his career may develop. He says his work with comedy and magic has helped him deal with life’s daily hassles.
Brett Alexander, Jamie Campbell and Tiffany Michelle also performed.
In addition, CrossWinds announced its annual award winners:
*Community Partner of the Year: Mitchell-Markowitz Construction
*Donor of the Year: Todd and Tirsten Henrikson
*Advocate of the Year: Emporia’s Radio Stations
