It was another tight race in the team standings for the Emporia High boys golf team at the Centennial League Golf Tournament hosted at Emporia Golf Course on Monday.
The Spartans shot a season low 301 to finish in second place, 13 strokes behind league champion Manhattan, which shot a 288. Hayden was third with a 302 while Washburn Rural was fourth with a 303.
Hudson Sauder led the way for the Spartans, finishing sixth with a 73. Sauder said Monday was a confidence booster for him.
Nolan Jacob finished 10th with a 75. Marley Harter finished 11th with a 76. Will Walker was 13th with a 77. Chesney Erkel was 24th with an 82 and Jared Johnson shot an 83, good for 27th.
Head coach Rick Eckert said it was another good tournament, but there’s still more work to be done with two regular season tournaments before regionals.
