The Emporia High boys track and field team won the Circle Invitational on Thursday. The Spartans won the meet with 104 points, winning by 27 points over Andover Central. The Emporia High girls are second with 98 points, 4.5 points behind Andover Central. Javelin will be held on Friday and there’s a potential the Lady Spartans can win the meet. The Spartans have locked up winning the meet.
Garrett LeBlanc won the triple jump with a mark of 41-0.75. RJ Tabares won the 110m hurdles in 15.11 and also won the 300m hurdles (41.21). The 4x400m relay team of Tabares, Harry Trelc, Gavin Jennings and LeBlanc won the event in 3:31.20. Brody Duncan finished second in the long jump (21-2.50). The 4x100m relay team of Trelc, Duncan, LeBlanc and Tabares finished second (43.75). Chance Duncan finished third in the discus (153-9). Ben Collins was third in the 110m hurdles (16.47). Kasen VanSickle finished third in the 800m (2:07.76). Gideon Lowery finished third in the 3,200m (10:14.15).
Paige Newland won the long jump with a mark of 18-0 and won the triple jump with a leap of 39-5. Emma Beatty won the 800m with a time of 2:24.57. Harley Smith finished second in the 100m (12.78) and also took second in the 200m (26.13). Beatty finished second in the 1,600m (5:32.60) while Madison Evans finished third (5:42.80). Micah Huber finished third in the pole vault (8-6).
Emporia High returns to action next Thursday for the Centennial League Championships at Junction City.
