Orange has been granted a furlough to secure 28 days of inpatient treatment in July and early August.
Separately, a decision on a trial date for Maurice Evans may not come until late May at the earliest after a status hearing was rescheduled.
Evans was supposed to have his final pretrial hearing Wednesday, but that was moved to May 28 due to an attorney scheduling conflict had the case gone to trial next week as planned. At this point, trial could start June 2 or June 9.
Evans is charged with distributing up to 100 grams of meth after an alleged incident in early March 2023. He also faces single counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and trafficking meth into a correctional institution or care and treatment facility.
