Fundraising is fully underway for Newman Regional Health through its annual Denim and Diamonds activities.
The latest event was the barbecue lunch, held Thursday. Director of Marketing Kacie Hastings says this is an event that brings the entire hospital together.
The meal featured a pulled pork sandwich, chips, a Hostess treat, sauce and water, courtesy of partners like Evco, Bobby D’s, McDonalds, Hostess and US Foods. It also comes with less than three months to go before the signature gala, which will be Aug. 1 at Emporia State’s Memorial Union and will feature an auction and a live performance by country music star Logan Mize. Tickets for the general public go on sale July 1.
The hospital served about 600 meals and kept some meals back in reserve to sell by the pan. All the meat was claimed. Hastings says the event generated about $7,000.
