No transports were needed following a vehicle and deer collision and vehicle fire Saturday evening.
The accident was reported shortly before 9:15 p.m. at Interstate mile marker 139 southbound, 12 miles east-northeast of Emporia. According to Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope, the vehicle struck a deer on the roadway, and a vehicle fire ensued; however, it is unclear how significant the fire was.
Cope says no flames were reported when the first responders from Emporia and Hartford Neosho Rapids arrived. The number and names of individuals involved in the accident have not been announced.
Cope says no one involved was transported from the scene. Further details are currently pending.

It appears Lyon County deputies will investigate a reported injury crash and vehicle fire from Saturday night.
Shortly before 9:15 pm, deputies and first responders from Emporia and Hartford-Neosho Rapids were dispatched to Interstate 35 at mile marker 139 southbound, 12 miles east-northeast of Emporia and about two miles west of the Kansas Highway 130 junction. Early indications are the vehicle hit a deer and caught fire.
