The Emporia High boys golf team is starting to peak when it matters the most.
EHS shot a season low 297 to win its home invitational on Monday at Emporia Golf Course. Nolan Jacob led the way winning the tournament with a two-under 69.
Will Walker finished fourth with a 75, while Jared Johnson also had a round of 75 for fifth. Hudson Sauder finished ninth with a 78. Marley Harter finished 15th with an 81, while Chesney Erkel also shot an 81, good for 16th. Emporia High coach Rick Eckert was satisfied with the Spartans shooting a season low at the right time of the season.
Emporia High travels to Topeka for regionals next Monday at Lake Shawnee. The top three teams from each Class 5A regional will qualify for state, May 27-28 at Emporia Golf Course.
