You already have a lot of options for your Kansas license tag. The state is adding one more.
The state will have blackout tags available July 1. They are — no surprise — designed with an all-black Kansas background and white lettering. Governor Kelly says this gives “Kansans more options on the road while still adhering to safe license plate requirements.”
The state’s one-time plate fee is $40 with an annual royalty fee of $50. Royalty funds will go to the state’s License Plate Replacement Fund. Personalizing the plate costs $45.50
Once available, drivers can get new blackout tags from the county treasurer’s office. More information about Kansas tags is online at ksrevenue.gov/dovlicenses.
