Several people have indicated interest for Kansas governor, but the first official filing came this week.
Doug Billings, a conservative Republican, says he is focusing his campaign on government efficiency, pro-life, Second Amendment, election integrity, values-based education, property rights for all Kansans and what he calls a MAGA economic boom driven by tax cuts, eliminating regulations and cutting waste.
Secretary of State Scott Schwab, another Republican, has said he plans to file for the governor’s chair.
Current Governor Laura Kelly, a Democrat, will not be eligible for a third term when her current term ends next year. No Democrats have stepped forward to run.
