A candidate is now on the ballot for Americus City Mayor.
Dustin Wright filed for election to the position Monday and is the first candidate to do so. With the candidate filing and withdrawal deadline quickly approaching, several positions in Lyon County — Admire City Council, Americus Mayor and City Council, Hartford City Council, Neosho Rapids Mayor and City Council — do not have candidates filed as of yet.
Neither do USD 251 North Lyon County or USD 252 Southern Lyon County. The filing and withdrawal deadline is noon June 2.
If needed, the primary election is Aug. 5. The general election is Nov. 4. Mayor, City Council, City Commission and school board positions are up for election this year.
