Community members will have an opportunity to stay active in the arts this summer.
Last week, the Emporia Arts Center had its summer kickoff getting a solid start on registration for its summer classes. Art Education and Outreach Coordinator Sadie Moore says it’s important to keep children involved in the arts during the summer months with a decline in arts activities happening in schools in recent years.
One highlight for EAC will be Missoula Children’s Theatre’s stop in Emporia beginning on June 23. Auditions for Hansel and Gretel will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. June 23 with the performance taking place later in week.
Moore says there will be a variety of classes for children and adults to take part in beginning in June and ending in August. Moore says an adult theatre class is something new EAC is offering this year, along with clay clubs and themed weeks throughout the summer.
