This year’s fundraising campaign for the United Way of the Flint Hills has been a successful one, although totals won’t be released just yet.
A celebration for this year’s campaign will take place at noon Thursday at the Bowyer Community Building. United Way Executive Director Daphne Mertens says fundraising happens year-round, and the United Way is also emphasizing grant funds more than in the past. Mertens says the focus, both for this year and beyond, is being active in the community.
This year’s Drive Chair Tagan Trahoon says he hopes he has set an example for future drive chairs. Trahoon says the next generation will eventually lead the campaign in the future with parents and grandparents setting an example for the younger generation.
The celebration will feature lunch from Gravel City Roasters, opening and closing remarks from Board Chair Scott Hayes, comments from Trahoon and Mertens and campaign awards.
