Homes immediately east of 12th and Prairie will deal with a planned water service outage Wednesday.
The city continues work at the intersection as part of the final stages of construction for the 24th and Prairie waterline replacement project. The water outage affects 12th east to Sunnyslope, as well as Beverly Street, Gloria Avenue and the area immediately surrounding Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church. This should last for most of Wednesday, if not all day.
The project should wrap up in the next 2-3 weeks. It has brought new, larger waterlines from Water Treatment Plant near 24th and Industrial east to Prairie and south to 12th.
This project will be followed by the Southeast Transmission project, which will bring new and larger waterlines from 12th and Garfield to South and Carter. That project begins next month and could last through fall 2026.
