Most Lyon County road segments closed due to heavy rainfall earlier this week have reopened.
The Lyon County Highway Department says Road P between Roads 140 and 150 is the only road segment still closed after occasional heavy rainfall Sunday night through Tuesday morning. Area residents got 3-5 inches or more during that timeframe.
Rain also fell late Wednesday night and early Thursday, but totals are not nearly as impressive:

Lyon County’s road closure list remains unchanged from Wednesday after heavy rainfall earlier in the week.
*Road 150 between Roads D and E; between Kansas Highway 99 and Road J; between Roads N and P

This follows anywhere from light to extremely heavy rainfall from storms just Monday night into Tuesday. Residents in Emporia and within a five-mile radius reported anywhere from 1.4 to over 3 inches of rainfall, and Strong City reported 4 to over 5 inches of rain. Several locations in Emporia got upwards of 1.5 inches of rain Sunday as well.
