Prairie Paws Animal Shelter has more money on hand to get the word out about pet adoptions, thanks to a donation from Simmons Pet Food.
Simmons presented Prairie Paws staff a $10,000 check Wednesday. Prairie Paws staffer Abby Donohue says there are a lot of benefits to this donation.
Simmons Human Resources Supervisor Janet Haag agrees, saying this will help both pets and companions alike.
Simmons Project Lead Tiffany Guerrero says this is a good way to help Prairie Paws.
Prairie Paws Manager Bailey Estes says things developed quickly.
Prairie Paws has been operating Emporia’s animal shelter for nearly a year after taking over operations from the Humane Society of the Flint Hills. Manager Bailey Estes says this donation also comes as Prairie Paws continues work to add new fencing to expand its outdoor dog area. Prairie Paws hit its $20,000 fundraising goal last month, thanks to anonymous donors, a matching donation from the Buck Fund and support through its other locations in Manhattan and Ottawa.
