For over six decades, McKinzie Pest Control has built a legacy of quality service for the local community, and that legacy will continue, but now under a new name and banner.
Thursday afternoon, members of the McKiznie family joined residents and leadership of Emporia to celebrate the official grand opening of Plunkett’s Pest Control. Plunkett’s acquired McKinzie after the current owner, Steve McKinzie, announced his retirement recently.
The McKinzie family noted that while the name may not be the same, there will be little in the way of change from the quality service and family values that McKinzie has become known for. Plunkett’s Supervisor Clint Fagen noted that just like McKinzie, Plunkett’s holds the same values being a family-owned business itself.
With that in mind, Steve McKinzie says Plunkett’s was the perfect fit for him and his family.
Among those in attendance for Thursday’s grand opening was Plunkett’s technician Johnny Ervin, who says he is very proud to be a member of the Plunkett’s family. In fact, he says this may be the most pride he has ever felt in a professional setting.
Also in attendance to welcome Plunkett’s to Emporia were members of Emporia Main Street. Director Casey Woods says McKinzie has been a great member throughout its existence and Plunkett’s is already living up to that standard.
