Lyon County commissioners have several focal points for their action meeting this week.
For economic development, commissioners will have a public hearing on a Community Development Block Grant application to the Kansas Department of Commerce to help the Emporia Imaginarium rehabilitation project.
When it comes to elections, County Clerk Amie Jones will present a prepayment proposal for mailing out revenue-neutral rate notices through KOMTEK Systems Corporation at a cost of nearly $15,000. The funds will initially come out of the Clerks Miscellaneous Fund but will be reimbursed in full by the state of Kansas.
For non-elected personnel, current County Engineer Chip Woods and Assistant County Engineer Jim Brull will introduce new County Engineer Wayne Scritchfield with Woods set to retire.
For zoning, commissioners will consider a request for an Agriculture Conditional-Use permit for a quarry. Leaseholder Ben Retter with US Stone is making the application.
The meeting starts at 9 am at the County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
