One person was hurt and hospitalized after a truck-deer crash in far northeast Lyon County on Monday night.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 9 pm at Kansas Turnpike mile marker 154.4, or near the Lyon-Wabaunsee county line. Troopers say 81-year-old William Kent of Emporia was driving in the southbound outside lane when a deer entered his lane and hit the truck’s front end.
Kent was not hurt, but a passenger, 59-year-old Lourdes Kent of Emporia, suffered apparently minor injuries and was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment.
