One intersection is now open as Emporia’s 24th and Prairie waterline replacement project nears the end. Another one, however, is closed.
As City Engineer Jim Ubert mentioned on KVOE’s Morning Show this week, 12th and Prairie has reopened after being closed for nearly a month. However, 18th and Prairie closed Thursday for waterline construction and for pavement work. The intersection could be closed for up to four weeks.
These are the last main components of this infrastructure project, which has brought new and significantly larger water pipes from the Water Treatment Plant east to 24th and south to 12th over the last year.
Residents can see the closure and related detours online at emporiaks.gov/livemap.
