There will be some overlap in Emporia’s major waterline replacement project timelines.
The Southeast Transmission Main project is now set to begin this week. The city of Emporia has announced initial work zones of Seventh from Garfield to Sunnyslope and also from Garfield to Arundel. Garfield, meanwhile, will see work from Sixth to Ninth.
Over the next 15 months or so, work will go from 12th and Garfield to Emporia’s water tower near South and Carter.
Meanwhile, work on the 24th and Prairie waterline project is nearing the end. The 12th and Prairie intersection opened Thursday, coinciding with the closure of 18th and Prairie for waterline installation and pavement work. The 18th and Prairie component should be done by early July, if not sooner.
