One person suffered minor burns trying to put out a small house fire at an Emporia duplex early Tuesday.
Emporia Fire Capt. Greg Davis says crews were dispatched to 2023 Gloria shortly before 1:45 am, eventually finding smoldering insulation in the attic of the two-story duplex. The affected insulation was removed through the bathroom ceiling. Early indications are the cause was electrical, starting in the upstairs bathroom, and unintentional.
Davis says a tenant suffered minor burns on her hands and wrists. She was taken by private vehicle to Newman Regional Health for observation and treatment.
