A first court appearance is coming later this month in the case of an Olpe man accused of burglarizing a cell phone tower in Chase County.
Jeremy James Cox was sought by the Chase County Sheriff’s Office after an alleged break-in at the Heartland Tower facility May 8, but the legal complaint filed by Chase County Attorney Brian Henderson indicates an earlier incident April 22, claiming Cox destroyed the tower’s gate, lock and video surveillance system during the April incident. Cox is also accused of taking an unspecified number of waveguide couplers, which are used to split or redirect electromagnetic power.
Officially, Cox is charged with single counts of burglary, theft and criminal damage, as well as two counts of criminal trespass. Cox’s first court appearance is June 26.
