Post-season play begins this week for Emporia FC.
The Black Lions are making their first playoff appearance in the United Premier Soccer League in club history after finishing 4th in the Midwest South regional standings. The Black Lions will open the postseason at home Wednesday against Inter Wichita FC, whom Emporia beat 3-1 in the regular season.
The match will be played at the Emporia High School soccer pitch with kickoff set for 7:30 pm.
Emporia is riding a six-game unbeaten streak with five wins and one draw. Their latest win came in the regular season finale at home on Saturday, when they defeated KC Legends 2-0.
Emporia opened the scoring in the 15th minute of play thanks to a goal from Captain Alexa Musikic off an assist from Alex Almeda. Almeda would then score the dagger in the 55th minute with an assist from Carlos Noboa Molina.
The Black Lions finished the regular season with a 6-1-3 record.
