A flood warning remains in effect for the Cottonwood River at Emporia following heavy rainfall this week.
*The Cottonwood River at Emporia is in a flood warning from late Thursday night to Friday evening. The river was at 18.52 feet as of 6:30 am and is expected to crest at the 20-foot flood stage early Friday. It should go below flood stage shortly thereafter.
Flood warnings for the Cottonwood at Cottonwood Falls and Florence, as well as the Neosho at Neosho Rapids, have either expired or have been canceled. The Cottonwood at Florence was above its flood stage for a few hours Wednesday, while the Cottonwood at Cottonwood Falls and the Neosho at Neosho Rapids never got to their respective flood stages.
There are still some Lyon County roads closed after anywhere from over half an inch to nearly five inches of rainfall Tuesday:
*Road 150 from J to K; from K to Kansas Highway 99
*Road 160 from G to H
*Road A from 170 to 180
*Road J from 140 to 150; from 150 to 160
*Road K from 140 to 150; from 150 to 155
Flooding that developed two weeks ago and lasted over a week is still evident in eastern Lyon County with a handful of roads closed:
*Road 135 from V-6 to W
*Road 145 from V-6 to Neosho Rapids
*Road 150 from N to P
*Road V-6 from 135 to 140; from 140 to 145
*Road W from 123 to 135
