Emporia’s now-annual Pride Celebration is Saturday with a bit of a different layout and schedule than in years past.
Past iterations of Pride locally have involved two days of activities, but organizer Mallory Bishop says everything is Saturday evening and Saturday night in downtown Emporia.
A parade will kick things off starting at 4 pm at Emporia State’s Kellogg Circle, followed by Pride Live at the Ninth and Commercial green space — including three artists, a preview performance of “Spring Awakening: The Musical” by Emporia State Summer Theater, food and business vendors, information booths and talks by parade marshals Michael Torres and Nyk Robertson. The annual drag show will also be at the green space with four performers.
The parade and Pride Live are free to attend, while the drag show is $10. People can go online to ksfreeforarts.org or pay at the gate.
