With a new gas station going up in northwest Emporia, there will be some street work associated with that project.
Walmart is in the early construction stages for its new gas station and convenience store along Industrial Road, and it started connecting utilities for that new facility Thursday. City Communications Manager Christine Torrens says there will be lane drops as utilities are connected between 18th and 24th.
The timetable for this project has not been divulged.
The Walmart convenience store and gas station will compete with similar facilities operated locally by Amoco, BP, Casey’s, Circle K, Finish Line and Short Stop. Walmart says the new store and station in Emporia is part of a project adding fuel stations across the country this year.
