A Waverly man is dead and two children were hurt in a crash in Osage County on Saturday evening.
The crash happened around 8:15 pm on South Jordan Road between Kansas Highway 31 and West 317th, or about a mile east of Melvern Lake’s Coeur d’Alene Park picnic area. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 27-year-old Louis Madden was northbound on Jordan Road when his pickup went off the road to the right for unlisted reasons. Madden overcorrected and his pickup ended up on its roof in a ditch.
Madden was killed. He was not wearing his seatbelt.
The Highway Patrol has listed two children, 5-year-olds Libby and Louis Madden, as suffering minor injuries. Both were restrained and were taken to Stormont Vail Health in Topeka for suspected minor injuries.
