The Emporia Arts Council is busy this summer, and it’s encouraging people to get ready for later this year as well.
Recently, the Arts Council kicked off its annual fundraising campaign. Director Dawn Young says this is important for Arts Council operations.
Also, the Arts Council announced the first performers in its Entertainment Series — starting with comedian Preacher Lawson on Sept. 23.
The Legends of Classic Rock will make an appearance on Oct. 16, followed by country musician Coffey Anderson on Nov. 8.
The Performing Arts Series has a separate list of events, with The Rocket Man Show on Oct. 1, Bill Blagg’s Family Magic on Feb. 20, Uptown on March 7, The Remotes on March 28 and Sons of Serendip on April 15.
Tickets go on sale for the general public July 21, but Arts Council members can get tickets early.
Meanwhile, early processes are underway for the Missoula Children’s Theatre and its annual visit to Emporia. Arts Council Marketing and Membership Coordinator Amy Gonzales says this a good way to introduce children to the Arts Council — and, sometimes, their parents as well.
Auditions take place Monday, with practices every day this week and one performance of Hansel and Gretel at 7 pm Friday evening at the Emporia Granada Theatre.
