An aggravated robbery case working through Lyon County District Court may have its next hearing in August.
Coryon Green, age 28 of Emporia, is facing counts of aggravated robbery, aggravated witness or victim intimidation, flee and elude, drug possession and paraphernalia possession after an alleged incident Dec. 18. He was supposed to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday, but that was pushed to Aug. 6 after prosecutors reported a scheduling conflict with a witness.
Separately, a Lyon County aggravated burglary case is going from preliminary hearing to sentencing. Jackson Seaton accepted a no-contest plea to single counts of battery and violating a protection order after an alleged incident in early April. Prosecutors dropped the burglary count as part of the plea. Sentencing is Aug. 27.
In addition, a Lyon County drug distribution case tentatively set for trial to begin next week could well have trial begin late next month instead. Darrell Wayne Walker’s trial date was moved from this upcoming Monday to possibly as soon as July 21 or July 28 after a prosecutor request due to a schedule conflict with a witness. Walker is currently facing a count of distributing a small amount of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of William Allen White Elementary, as well as three separate counts of meth distribution and one count of using a cell phone to commit a felony after alleged activity at various times last year.
And an Emporia woman who had a fugitive from justice case dismissed earlier this year has had the case re-filed. Samantha Corbet, age 35, was charged early this year with being a fugitive after unlawfully leaving Okfuskee County, Oklahoma, with a count of trafficking unspecified contraband into a jail, but the case was dismissed without prejudice — meaning prosecutors could re-file if deemed necessary — in March. Prosecutors re-filed the case Monday; Corbet had her first appearance Wednesday and is now set for an extradition hearing July 23.
