Borderline severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday, along with heavy rainfall.
Currently, all area counties are under a marginal severe weather risk for activity possibly starting by early afternoon. Wind gusts up to 60 mph are the main concern.
Heavy rain may be associated with any thunderstorms that develop from early afternoon through the late night hours, and with the possibility of slow-moving, training thunderstorms, the National Weather Service has a marginal-to-slight risk for at least isolated flooding. Areas along and north of a line from Council Grove to Americus to near Neosho Rapids are in the slight risk category.
Lyon County still hasn’t fully recovered from two prior rounds of flooding, based on the lists of road closures from earlier this month.
Roads still closed from flooding June 3-11:
*Road 135 from V-6 to W
*Road 145 from V-6 to Neosho Rapids
*Road 150 from N to P
*Road V-6 from 135 to 140; from 140 to 145
*Road W from 123 to 135

*Road 155 from F-5 to G
*Road 160 from G to H
*Road H from 160 to 165
*Road J from 140 to 150; from 150 to 160

Starting Friday, a slight chance of thunderstorms now persists through at least Wednesday. After Thursday night, the best chance of showers and storms is Sunday night. Severe weather is currently unlikely.
