An Emporia man will spend over a decade in prison following a fatal wreck in Johnson County over a year ago.
Following the crash in May 2024, Jason Eli Brumley had pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter-driving under the influence and two counts of aggravated battery. Earlier this month, he was sentenced to 122 total months in prison. The aggravated battery counts are being served concurrently, or simultaneously, to the controlling count of involuntary manslaughter.
Brumley, age 40, was involved in a crash near the junction of Interstate 35 and Sunflower Road in the Kansas City metro area. One person, 76-year-old Sherry Pena, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others suffered critical injuries but survived.
