Pavement work is taking place at several Emporia locations in the coming days.
In fact, starting Tuesday, 15th and Prairie is closed to eastbound traffic for street repairs after work on the 24th and Prairie waterline replacement project. It should be closed for the rest of the week. There has been northbound work on Prairie between 12th and 15th as part of this project. City Engineer Jim Ubert says northbound Prairie is open.
Meanwhile, the city’s Street Rehab program begins next week with 10 street segments getting improvements:
*Eighth Avenue from Walnut to West
*18th Avenue from Industrial to Prairie
*Cottonwood Street from Second to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks and from South to First
*East Wilman Court from Rural to 18th
*Grand Street from Ninth to 12th
*Soden Road from Commercial to the David Traylor Zoo Education Center
*Sylvan Street from South to the railroad tracks
*Trail Ridge Road from (Santa Fe Trail Road to 15th
*Walnut Street from 12th to 15th
*West Ridge Court from West Ridge Drive to Timmerman Drive
Milling will start the process with all announced street segments. Overlay will follow at a time to be announced later.
