One person was taken from the scene of a two-vehicle collision in southwest Emporia Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of US Highway 50 and Anderson Street for the accident at 1:50 pm. According to the Emporia Fire Department, the accident involved two vehicles, a passenger car and a minivan, makes and models not stated.
The minivan was reportedly turning westbound out of the Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply parking lot at the same time that the passenger car was traveling eastbound. The passenger car collided with the minivan, striking the rear driver’s side.
The driver of the minivan had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to Newman Regional Health with what are being called minor injuries. The driver of the passenger car was examined at the scene but declined further treatment.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, and the accident brought both lanes of traffic down to one lane for roughly 30 minutes. The names of those involved have not been released.

The accident was reported near the intersection of US Highway 50 and Anderson Street in Emporia just before 2 pm. Emporia Fire/EMS and Emporia Police responded to the scene.
The accident involved two vehicles, one of which suffered significant front-end damage and the other damage to the driver’s side. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
The number of individuals involved, potential injuries and a full crash narrative are currently pending. The accident resulted in both eastbound and westbound traffic being reduced to one lane for approximately 30 minutes.
