For months, LCAT has been looking at a full shift from route buses to demand-based service. The shift has happened in stages the last three years, and the final piece of that transition happens Tuesday.
LCAT Director Shane Brunner has been eyeing demand-based services for years, and prior adjustments have been successful.
Brunner says this won’t have major impacts on existing LCAT riders, but he asks riders to call 620-343-4207 to give advance notice.
Brunner also says there is a two-week maximum for advance notice.
Brunner says operations remain unchanged for other aspects. LCAT has up to 11 vehicles on the road at any time, with transit vans operating Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays across Lyon County and minivans offering transport across Kansas and into neighboring states along with the in-town buses.
More information is available at the Lyon County website, lyoncountyks.gov, and on the Lyon County Area Transportation LCAT Facebook page.
