Wabaunsee County Sheriff Eric Kirsch says there is an “active and aggressive investigation” now underway after a round of attempted burglaries in rural areas this past weekend.
Kirsch says there have been unauthorized attempts to get into rural farmsteads. There has also been at least one theft of agricultural equipment left in a field as well as cases of fuel being siphoned from vehicles. Kirsch adds the suspects have been deliberately avoiding main roads as part of the recent activity.
Kirsch is asking county residents to report any suspicious vehicles parked or idling in unusual locations or any unfamiliar people in their respective areas to the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office at 785-765-3323. Kirsch is also asking rural residents to lock vehicles, valuables, outbuildings and machinery.
