Republicans in Congress are hailing passages in both the House and Senate for President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
The reconciliation bill isn’t all the way across the finish line yet after narrow passages in both chambers — including Tuesday, when Vice President JD Vance broke a tie to move the bill back to the House. Regardless, Senator Roger Marshall says this is critical for advancing President Trump’s domestic agenda.
According to ABC News, the bill has $4 billion in tax cuts. It eliminates taxes on tips and overtime. It also includes new funds for border security.
However, the bill — depending on the House or Senate version — could add over $3 trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years, according to the Congressional Budget Office. The CBO also says nearly 12 million people could lose Medicaid and thus go uninsured. Marshall sees things much differently on Medicaid.
In addition, ABC News says the bill makes significant cuts to SNAP and clean-air policies.
The House is now taking up the Senate plan.
