With work already underway inside Neosho Rapids, Burlington Northern Santa Fe has announced more crossings near the town are also getting maintenance work.
BNSF is closing the tracks at Road Y and Road 150 until at least Monday. Lyon County Emergency Communications says Kansas Highway 130 will remain open during that project.
The work in Neosho Rapids precedes work on just about every crossing in Emporia later this month. Work will be at the Weaver Street crossing between July 9-13, with other crossings seeing work between July 14-17. The Commercial Street crossing was removed from the work list Thursday.
